Defending champions Gor Mahia survived a late surge from Sofapaka to force a 3-3 draw against the 2009 champions in a Kenyan Premier League match played Sunday at Machakos County Stadium. Kogallo enjoyed a 2-0 half time lead after Meddie Kegere and Bernard Ondiek scored a goal apiece in the 9th and 33rd minutes. Sofapaka came back revitalized and caused Kogallo trouble as they intensified their search for goals. Kepha Aswani pulled one back for ‘Batoto Ba Mungu’ in the 54th minute before Ezekiel Okare pulled level with an equalizer 6 minutes to time. Okare scored his second of the game and Sofapaka’s third and set the 2009 to snapping Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run but the 16 time champions salvaged a draw with a 90th minute strike from Innocent Wafula. The draw restored Kogallos lead at the top of the standings with 31 points, 3 ahead of second placed Ulinzi Stars who have played 2 more games. Sofapaka moved to 5th on 25 points. In other results Nakumatt handed Tusker their second successive defeat after snatching a 2-1 win while AFC Leopards grabbed a 2-0 win against Thika United.
