The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is set to undergo a major transformation in the next 100 days to streamline its operations. This was disclosed by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, his Transport colleague James Macharia and Tourism CS Najib Balala after they made an impromptu visit to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to assess the facilities operations. The trio traversed the airport, stopping at key areas of interest to inquire, a process that highlighted several loopholes in various departments when it came to service delivery at the largest airport in the country.
Matiang’i says their visit comes at a crucial time, as the government embarks on a project to effect changes in the facility to elevate it to recommended international standards. He added that among core considerations will be the safety standards for all those operating and using the airport.
The team says the project is part of the Jubilee administration in delivering its promise for a smooth and seamless international airport
