Oku Kaunya endorsed for Teso North Parliamentary seat

The race for the Teso North Parliamentary seat has gone a notch higher after the installation of former Administration Police Training College Commandant, Oku Kaunya, as a Teso Elder, just a day after a sub Clan endorsed his candidature. At a colorful ceremony held at Kaunya’s Kakemer home in Teso North early today, the elders however said they are ready to advise any candidate from the community who will seek their advise. Led by the Ikaruok Clan elder, John Mamai Jakaiti, the elders noted that the community needs a development-minded leader to steer the constituency to greater heights.Immediately after his installation as an elder, Kaunya pledged to unite the people of the cosmopolitan constituency and work closely with both the national and county governments to ensure that his priority projects such as roads, water, education, jobs creation and health are implemente. The Teso North parliamentary race has attracted six candidates with analysts predicting that if the ODM Candidate Lawi Mamai and ANC’s Oku Kaunya agree on who should support the other, Jubilee’s Arthur Odera who is the incumbent and the other candidates will not have a chance. The duo come from the same dominant clan, the Ikaruok.
